Dancing Alone: Future Nostalgia

Photographed by Joel Ivan Thomas, Dancing Alone: Future Nostalgia is an homage to makeup artist Alex Cost'a’s time spent in the 90’s rave scene across Europe, with an ironic nod to science-fiction.

Models Wear Litichevskaya - a unisex label from Berlin, which works at the intersection of art and fashion, taking inspiration from Russian avant-garde, Perestroika culture and Soviet space exploration.

The collections are dominated by geometric forms from the Russian avant-garde and Perestroika culture with symbols of revolution and slogans featuring elements such as 80s cuts, application and prints. The designer Sonja Litichevskaya finds these two epochs especially interesting because both manifest change - in visual arts, theatre, architecture and music.

“The search for my creative identity is especially important to me and my origins are in Russian culture where constructivism is the most important “label”. I also belong to the generation of “Perestroika children” because I was born during perestroika time."
