SPACE OUT was born in 2017. Mary, a collector and vintage enthusiast, began sharing her archive dedicated to great designers from the 90s and early 2000s online. The basis of her work is a careful research and selection of each item, in an attempt to recreate that particular imagery, influenced by the hip hop scene, BRATZ aesthetics and American pop culture, with the aim of reviving and using iconic garments in our memory.

For someone who spends so much time between archives and old collections, it can be disheartening to notice the lack of diversity in the past. I find myself staring at the screen, covered with hundreds of models, all with the same face, so different from mine, and beauty becomes a rigid paradigm, where there is no place for uniqueness but only what conforms. It is from this reflection that my search for those unique pieces, capable of representing one generation and at the same time influencing the next, was born.

The goal is to support a circular fashion approach, prolonging the life cycle of garments and counteracting today's fast fashion perspective. It has never been more urgent to understand how our clothes are produced, favouring and promoting sustainable consumption. Time is key: in choosing, in deepening, so that we can present a model of beauty that does not flatten shapes and colours but instead celebrates the uniqueness of the individual.
