FALSE IDOLS IS BACK
Following on from a momentous kick-off last season and a Radio 1 Dance ‘Best UK Clubbing Event’ Award nomination under their belt False Idols came back to DRUMSHEDS this weekend on Saturday 13th April. MERDE contributors Vasco Oliveira and Stanisław Niezgoda attended the wild night hosted by Love The Message. Following the theme of collective consciousness and belonging, the second False Idols opened up its arms once again with yet another awe-inspiring brigade of names with loads of tricks and surprises up their sleeve featuring heavyweights such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Sonique, Princess Superstar, Bimini, horsegiirL, MNEK (DJ Set), ABSOLUTE., BASHKKA and FAFF to name a few taking over the X Room, Y Room and Z Room.
The event brings back the original sentiments of club culture - aimomg to challenge our beliefs with style, andcraft a new tribe under the lights and lasers on the dancefloor - a new wave of harmonious hedonism for the queer community and all. FALSE IDOLS is a tongue and cheek party brand that invites all those who revel in good music and a dancefloor to come together and let loose. It’s for the people. It’s cult-like. It’s meme culture. It’s about anarchy, ritual, myths and legends. It’s about establishing a new order, questioning what you hold true.
FALSE IDOLS has a deeper meaning but yet accessible to all, it’s affirmations that make you question what is really important - which is.. this moment, your friends, the present, being is this space together. It’s the return to the idea of collective joy, where groups of people feel like they are part of something greater than themselves.
