MIMCHICK LA POP UP
MERDE Creative Director Molly Apple meets MIMCHIK founders Mia Kavovsky and Emma Marciano at their Melrose Ave pop-up store in Los Angles, California. The large airy space by Hedra Design by is made cozy with plush olive carpets and an inviting ‘conversation pit’ surrounded by rare books from Brick Back Books.
MIMCHICK’s first brick and mortar experience is imbued with architecturally clean lines that mirror thoughtfully added floral elements from The Plant Daddies. The clothing is artfully curated for not only for their consumer’s visual pleasure, but available additionally to touch and try on IRL for the first time. Their second collection, ‘Don’t Forget About Espionage’ is an amalgamation of sexy distressed Italian leathers, boned, tailored and reworked dead-stock wool, and easy tanks and shirts for every outfit.
A play on both Mia and Emma’s names, MIMCHIK is inviting, but a little mysterious; playful yet edgy.
“Mimchik is anybody who wants to join our world and be part of this community that we’re building.”
Molly indulged in trying on a few MIMCHIK’s looks, hoping the brand aesthetic would rub off through the luxe material and she may become an international spy by power of their gorgeously fitting leather mini and perfectly oversized jacket. The fantasy is enough to implore conscious hot girls everywhere to brave LA traffic and experience MIMCHIK’s Melrose Ave pop-up this week.
